Golf Skills 101

First let me say “Welcome to Golf Skills 101”. The purpose of Golf Skills 101 is to offer insights to golf and situations that impact Golf Skills 101s. Without question Golf Skills 101s benefit from golf and golf benefits from Seniors.

Although discounts that can be obtained from name brand companies that want to target Seniors with their products and services are appreciated. The Golf Skills 101 Association can also have a stronger voice in assuring the special needs of Seniors. However, most Seniors are iunterested in enjoying Golf, and helping those that need help in organizing a charitable tournements.

Example of two Associations benefiting from a large membership are PGA, and EWGA. Good for them now it is time for Seniors. Each time a senior league, or individual joins Golf Skills 101 Association our voices become stronger. (Click here for updates).

We are impressed with the number of fellow Seniors that share a common interest GOLF, and are willing to give a helping hand to Golf Tournaments benefiting many charitable causes. Seniors should never be mistaken for old folks rocking in a chair on the front porch waiting for that tee time in haven. Things for them are popping, and it is OK for you to visit but when you do don't get in their way. They are enjoying life, join in the fun or step aside. It is sometime a common phrase to hear.. boy I never thought they would leave. Please this comment is made in humor don't take everything to serious. As Seniors we don't.

Here are some ideas that may help your game. My favorite is Yoga for Golfer and anything to do with streching (Click Here !!) Proceeds from the purchases you make go to support Golf Skills 101.

The AARP has negotiated with the USGA to modify the Rules of Golf for seniors.

Rule 1.a.5 A ball sliced or hooked into the rough shall be lifted and placed on the fairway at a point equal to the distance it carried or rolled into the rough with no penalty. The senior should not be penalized for tall grass which ground keepers failed to mow.

Rule 2.d.6 (b) A ball hitting a tree shall be deemed not to have hit the tree. This is simply bad luck and luck has no place in a scientific game. The senior player must estimate the distance the ball would have traveled if it had not hit the tree and play the ball from there.

Rule 3.b.3(g) There shall be no such thing as a lost ball. The missing ball is on or near the course and will eventually be found and pocketed by someone else, making it a stolen ball. The player is not to compound the felony by charging himself or herself with a penalty.

Rule 4.c.7(h) If a putt passes over a hole without dropping, it is deemed to have dropped. The law of gravity supersedes the Rules of Golf.

Rule 5. Putts that stop close enough to the cup that they could be blown in, may be blown in. This does not apply to balls more than three inches from the hole. No one wants to make a travesty of the game.

Rule 6.a.9(k) There is no penalty for so-called "out of bounds." If penny-pinching golf course owners bought sufficient land, this would not occur. The Golf Skills 101 deserves an apology, not a penalty.

Rule 7.g.15(z) There is no penalty for a ball in a water hazard, as golf balls should float. Golf Skills 101s should not be penalized for manufacturers' shortcomings.

Rule 8.k.9( s) Advertisements claim that golf scores can be improved by purchasing new golf equipment. Since this is financially impractical for many Golf Skills 101s, one-half stroke per hole may be subtracted for using old equipment.

The secret to playing good golf is like having a good marriage. It takes good equipment, and an understanding of the rules of the game.

Golf is the true "Fountain of Youth", Let's get the most out of it, and help improve the game of golf for our future generations.
