    Importance of Good Balance

    A personal recommendation: Balance

    Balance, and good fitness are critical to a good golf game. Saying that does not mean without good balance and fitness you can not play golf. We all know that is not true. The comment is meant to let you know what I found out about my game. Rather than blaming my skills (lack of) or golf equipment. The truth of poor performance (golf swing) turned out to be partly based on my personal fitness and lack of balance.

    Let me encourage you that there are many simple methods of improving your balance. The one in the photo is a good example. How hard is it to stand on one foot and raise the other leg? Try it.. Ok more simple place your hand behind your back and touch the opposite shoulder blade. If this is easy for you to do you have a good range of motion, and it should not be difficult to make a good golf swing.

    For those of us that find it a challange to touch the opposite shoulder blade our range of motion will be restricted. This is an easy fix. Place your hand behind your back as far as you can without causing pain, and hold it for 3 min. Repeat this two times a day and within a few weeks you will find a better range of motion, and an improved golf swing.

    The point I am making is that no one but you are in control of your fitness and balance. Once, if you decide it is worth the time, you will find out how simple it is to improve both balance and fitness.
    This comment comes from a guy (me) that gave up jogging because my ice cubes kept bouncing out of my glass.
